There's a new Art Crimes poll. Again, it's under construction, but we added a link to the archive of all polls.

As an addendum to the last post. If anyone wants a positive piece of art on the side of their building, email me (Brett Webb, brett@graffiti.org) and I?ll try to get an artist hooked up with you. Let me know what you?d generally like to have. No matter where you are in the world, email and I?ll see if I can find someone.

Love and Unity.

I've been freaked the fuck out that last few days.

I've been recording a lot of my thoughts that I'll link to from here at some point.

I was on the streets in Brooklyn this morning and saw a beautiful mural today that was obviously graffiti influenced. It was over some posters on a construction wall. It had a white background and in rollered letters said "Love and Persevere".

I urge writers to use this time for positivity and unification. Writers play no small part in the feelings of the street and have the opportunity to contribute in real and large ways.

On Tuesday a muralist that uses spray paint, Chico, created a mural on 14th st in the East Village that made local news coverage and really helped people get through. There should be more of that.

People need something to lift their spirits. Help the local Palestinians that run the corner store by getting their permission to paint something on their building. Give a shout out to the firefighters from around the world that are risking their lives to clear the debris in downtown Manhattan right now.

More love, less hate.

Where did all the sketches go?
We got tired of all the whining about the toys in the sketch section. We pulled it off the front page.
In the fullness of time, we will present good blackbooks by kings instead of having an open-submission section like we have for so long.
If someone wants to maintain a link page that lists only sketch sites, let me know. Otherwise, we're not going to do that anymore either. It's already impossible to keep up with the exploding number of other graffiti sites with photos on them.
Our apologies to those in the sketch section who aren't toys. No disrespect meant. We have been trying to improve overall quality in the blackbook section over the past several years, and when that didn't work, we simply gave up.

Attacks on the US
Thanks for all the messages of support you've sent us from around the world. Although these are one-to-one messages, they represent your country showing concern for ours, and we acknowledge that love and caring from you. The Art Crimes staff is safe, as far as we can tell so far, but it will be weeks probably before we know the extent of the NYC casualties in our community. So far there are no reports of writers caught in the World Trade Center terrorist attack.

We join the world in extending our sympathy and grief to those who have lost their loved ones. We are appalled and shocked. Some of us actually witnessed these horrible events in person. We will never look at the world, or at buildings and airplanes, in the same way again.

There is a lot of bullshit being circulated online. Check your facts before you spread harmful conspiracy or good sounding hoaxes. There are some good sources of alternative information out there. Here are a few I know of and like.

Archives of the Red Rock Eater Digest
The most recent ones are about the attack. This is always a superior information source. I've been a member of the email list for years. Highly recommended. If you like what you see, you can subscribe by going to the official site

Here's a partial list of known hoaxes see also (and always) the Urban Legends site. Always check this site before you forward lies to everyone you know.

Check out Art Crimes new poll. It's heavily under construction, but we thought it might be fun.
