SSH Sentinel is a software product to secure the network communications of a Windows workstation. The IP (Internet Protocol) traffic is protected using the IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) protocol as specified by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards. SSH Sentinel is a client-type IPSec application designed for a single user workstation. Important network connection, like remote access to corporate network, remote administration, file transfer, sending and receiving email (SMTP, POP) and IP telephony can be effectively secured with it. It supports all network connection types, including dial-up. Although an end-user software designed for a single workstation, SSH Sentinel scales easily up to corporate use. It functions well in a public-key infrastructure (PKI) and supports central policy management. SSH Sentinel is currently available to the the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT4, Windows Me, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Designed for end users, using SSH Sentinel is easy. Key characteristics include intuitive installation and configuration, as well as a simple way to use certificates for authentication. As a product, it is secure, robust, and quick to adapt to the network environment at hand. SSH Sentinel was implemented due to numerous customer and end-user requests to bring out a real IPSec solution for commercial platforms and to enable full-scale network encryption with strong authentication.
