Getting started

When you first use BeNet, it's important that you fill your personnal informations in the preferences :

After that, you have to choose which way you want to use to call other users. The easiest way is simply to type in the IP address of the desired user. But often you don't know his address. That's why we create a Java IP server.

Once you're connected to a user, the conference window will pop-up.

You are now ready to talk and listen. During the conversation, you can toggle on/off both audio and video of the remote user simply by clicking the checkbox in the conference window. If you want to chat with the other user, click on the "Chat" item in the View menu or the "Chat" button on the toolbar. Everytime you call another user, a new view will be inserted in the conference window. All these view are identical, except for the name and IP address. That way you can easily keep track of who you're talking to.

When you're done, simply click on the "disconnect" button for the desired user, or the "disconnect" button on the BeNet toolbar to disconnect from everyone.
