Working with Enzyme Markers |
|
Enzyme Markers can be added to the map to represent a restriction site at a particular location. You can customize a marker's properties, such as its font, text, color, position on the page, and whether to show its location in parentheses.
To add a marker, you can either use the Plasmid Graphics Wizard, or the Plasmid Drawing Tools.
1. | Double click on the map or select context menu "properties", then go to the third page of the Plasmid Graphics Wizard. |
2. | Select the enzyme markers to remove from the given list and press Remove. To select more than one fragment from the list, hold down the Ctrl key as you select each marker. |
Alternatively, you can right click the marker on the map, then select menu Remove.
BVTech Plasmid allows you define a multiple enzyme marker. To do this, you just need to add a comma between enzyme names, for example,
"Nhe I, pme I, Apa I, Xho I, BstX I,EcoR I, Pst I, EcoR V, BstX I, Spe I"
BVTech Plasmid allows you to change many of the default settings after created a new marker.
1. | To change default marker options, simply double click on the marker you want to change. |
2. | Choose whether to show the positions of new markers in parentheses. |
3. | Set the font, font size, and font color for the marker. |
4. | Set the width and color for lines. |
If you just want to change the name of the enzyme marker, click on the text box of the enzyme marker, enter the new name. Then hit "enter" to accept the changes or hit "Esc" to cancel the changes.
An enzyme marker consists of two lines and a text box. If you select an enzyme marker, BVTech Plasmid shows three small square boxes to indicate these three parts. Draging on one of these boxes will change the relative positions of lines and text box. If you want to return to the default setting, right click to popup the marker's context menu, then select "resize to default". If you want to move the whole marker, select on the middle of lines and drag it to its new position using the left mouse button.
