Getting Started

Installation
Unzip and run the installation program.

  1. Unzip the installation program to a temporary directory. Usually C:\Windows\Temp is a good place to unzip files.
  2. Run the Net Update installation program.
  3. The installation program will ask you where you want to install the application. The default directory will be C:\Program Files\NetUpdate.
  4. You can decide during the installation process if you want to install the desktop icon and menu items.

Net Update can be installed into any directory. All the program settings are contained within the installation directory. No registry settings are made during the installation process without the consent of the installer. No files are installed into any of the Windows system directories.

In fact, Net Update only needs one file, nuManager.exe, to run successfully. However, it is recommended that all the supporting files also be installed.

As Net Update does not rely on any registry settings or system files, it can be installed into any directory... even a directory on portable media, such as a USB key. When installed, Net Update occupies less than 1MB of disk space, plus the space required to hold the update information files. When launched, Net Update will consume on average of about 4MB of RAM.

Net Update can be installed on any computer running Win95 through Windows XP.

That's it! You're now ready to start creating application updates.
