Extacy-3

[E-3 LOGO]

This piece of writing is yet more detail on the Spectrum PD coders of the world. This one in particular is about 'Extacy-3', a British team (for once). The reason this file is here and some others didn't get a mention is partly cos I know them so well (despite them living miles and miles away in Bristol), and partly cos they are a very good team of coders. And I CAN spell it right, it's meant to be like that up above!

They are quite an active bunch between them, with two coders, one of which is a good Speccy musician, a very good graphics artist - when I've got time I'll upload a few of their slideshows. Another couple of allround bods and that's XTC-3 (as another shortening quite often used) rounded up.

Members of Extacy-3 and addresses:

Here then is a list of the demos and other programs produced by this team so far, although the ftp links are not working as I write (the files are still in incoming, and they're as .TAP files mainly due to being multiloaders):

  1. Learning To Drive - silly first demo, with screens nicked from a driving game and humourously defaced. Small, simple, but everyone has to start somewhere.
  2. Subsonic - a few tunes made with Soundtracker
  3. Linez - copied basic idea of Song In Lines 5, but different. (?)
  4. One Tooo Many (TAPs) - written in 24hrs over a weekend in a secret location, lots of drinking, slagging off and completely mad. Pretty good really.
  5. Subsonic 2 - more tunes than the first, and a snazzy scroller
  6. Mindwarp (TAPs) - with a fake reset, and poor first 3 parts but the last bit is good. One of my favourite of their demos.
  7. Kraft (TAPs) - another of my favourites (espec part 2), megademo with all-sorts of effects and texts to read in scrollers.
  8. Mindless - err. guess from the name, quite silly.
  9. Stolen Data - graphics, and songs, and other stuff - quite big
  10. Insanity - I never seem to remember a lot about this but no doubt its good. Insanity 2: Pippilea is following sometime.
  11. Ren & Stimpy slideshow - as it says.
  12. Subliminal Extacy diskmag #0, a trial one.
  13. One Tooo Many 2! - crazy demo made in a day in the style of the first one, (still quite big though for the time spent on it).
  14. Sam Coupe-A Total Piss Take - made with the United Minds after a Spectrum/ SAM show (I was there too! Had to go home before that though).
  15. Inner Universe - biggest demo I've yet seen, 299K compressed one of the best yet although to me some of it seems a little samey. Maybe thats just cos I've seen it so many times!
    [screen from
Inner Universe]From the raytraced part (don't boggle, it's not really real-time raytracing on the Spectrum!).
  16. Subliminal Extacy #1 - number one of their tape/diskzine (although its large so disk is recommended - whether Spectrum/MS-DOS!).
  17. ESP - Written with the help of Icabod, a graphics and effects demos with a few parts (quite good really).
  18. Subliminal Extacy #2 - number 2 (well what did you think it was eh? :-)
  19. Tizzu/Tizzme - 2 Programs to decompile compiled Soundtracker songs.
  20. Auto Yolpa +D - Plus D autoboot so you can select which program to load via a menu.
  21. Bogie's Moved - a short SampleTracker song with a screen showing Bogie's new address (he's at university).
