Junk Spy Version 2.0 Released
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
War Against Spam Adds New Front
Junk Spy Version 2.0
With the release of Junk Spy 2.0, Sundial Systems has taken this
field-proven tool and made it available to both OS/2 and Windows desktop
computer users. Junk email (or "spam") is becoming an ever larger
portion of what people receive in their inbox. For many people, they now
get more "spam" than real email. And sorting it all can be a big waste
of time. Junk Spy gives you back control of your inbox by identifying and
dealing with that junk email so you don't have to. It becomes your
"secret agent" in the war against spam.
"Our Junk Spy 1.0 customers have have told us how effective Junk Spy is,
day-in and day-out, under actual field conditions" said Junk Spy product
manager, Rollin White. "90% recognition of junk, with virtually no 'false
hits' is common."
Junk Spy works by sitting between your email program and your mail server.
It detects and identifies junk email in much the same way as your
anti-virus software detects viruses. Each piece of mail is examined as
it arrives at your desktop using a variety of techniques, based on both
the source of the message and its content, to identify what is and isn't
junk mail. Once identified and "marked," the junk mail can be processed
in a number of different ways all designed to save you the time and
frustration of having to deal with junk mail clogging up your inbox.
Junk Spy 2.0 adds more than just Windows support. In addition to Realtime
Blackhole filtering, it now supports the ORBS (Open Relay
Behaviour-modification System) list as well to watch for mail from
possible spam relay points that haven't been used enough, or long enough,
to make the classic black hole lists. And, a new Exception Wizard makes
it even easier to "train" Junk Spy to recognize the occasional junk
message that really is important to you.
Through July 31st, Junk Spy is offered at an estimated promotional street
price of just $39 - a discount of $20 from the $59 list price. This
includes a full year of automatic junk detection updates (a $24 value) at
no extra charge.
Junk Spy 1.0 customers qualify for additional discounts and other
promotions as well.
For details, a demonstration, and to order, visit the brand new Junk Spy
web site at http://www.JunkSpy.com/

The second Larsen Commander release candidate
is now available at
http://home.online.no/~leifel/lcmd/index.html
There were a few rather serious bugs in the previous
release candidate. This second release candidate was
therefore needed but, again, if no more serious bugs
are reported within a few days then this is the last
test release before the final version 1.5.
For a detailed list of which bugs are fixed

WarpIN and XWorkplace 0.9.11 released
ENGLISH VERSION (GERMAN FOLLOWS)
================================
WarpIN and XWorkplace have both been updated to V0.9.11.
1. WarpIN V0.9.11 has been released.
WarpIN is intended to become the new universal OS/2
installer. It is becoming more and more popular among
OS/2 developers because of its flexibility and ease of
use. It has full system configuration (CONFIG.SYS,
WPS classes, WPS objects) and can fully undo all the
changes to your system again.
V0.9.11 fixes a few annoying bugs.
2. XWorkplace V0.9.11 is out also.
XWorkplace is the most feature-rich freeware Workplace
Shell enhancer on the planet, and even better, it is
OpenSource. XWorkplace is the successor to my popular
XFolder utility and has become a Netlabs project.
For details, please refer to the download address
below.
V0.9.11 fixes a few bugs which have been reported over
the last few weeks.
To install XWorkplace, you also need WarpIN V0.9.9 or
higher.
To get the new WarpIN and XWorkplace, please go to:
WarpIN and XWorkplace are Netlabs projects, released under
the GNU General Public Licence. The source code is
available on the Netlabs CVS server. See
www.netlabs.org/nosa and the above address for details.
We have created four mailing lists at groups.yahoo.com:
-- warpin-user
-- warpin-dev
-- xworkplace-user
-- xworkplace-dev
for WarpIn and XWorkplace users and developers,
respectively.
We are grateful for feedback on these mailing lists.
Have fun!

OS/2 DVD Device Driver Contest
This is just a reminder that the DVD device driver contest at:
http://home1.gte.net/vzn05zki/contest.htm is still on-going.
The contest's goal is to produce a device driver for a hardware based DVD
solution under OS/2.
Feedback and Sponsorship are welcomed and encouraged.
If you are a developer or group who may be interested in this project,
there's still time. The contest's cut-off date for submissions is July
1st. As of right now there is one developer that I know of who is working
on the project.
More details can be found at the above mentioned page.
Thank you,

WarpZip update
We have updated the PillarSoft website with downloads of the new version
of WarpZip.
This version adds the ability to view and extract individual files in
WarpIn (Wpi) archives just like WarpZip allows you to do with any other
archiving format. Great for digging out a file or two when you don't need
everything from an archive or just to read the documentation or view the
bitmaps in an archive without having to unarchive the whole thing.
There is much more to the program than is being discussed here so stop at:
http://www.pillarsoft.net/warpzip.html for more information.
We have also updated the PillarSoft Suite with the latest versions of all
our programs. More information and downloads of the PillarSoft Suite are
available at: http://www.pillarsoft.net/suite.html
WarpZip is $29 and is available through BMT Micro, Mensys and others. The
PillarSoft Suite contains this program plus 12 more OS/2 utilities for
only $99.
DivX player/2
good news for the OS/2, Warp, Merlin, WSeB, Aurora, eCS, MCP, ACP users! a
"DivX ;-)" player is in the works!
screenshot and link to the program @
http://dink.org/z/ (i'm not affiliated with
the program in any way) its really super alpha and the
documentation is in russian...
but sooner or later (in a few weeks) it'll support
most win32 codecs and play audio instead of just video
and be less buggy.

News about RexxMail:
Build 20010423.121014 of RexxMail is now available:
http://www.degeus.com/rexx/rexxmail_20010423_121014.zip
RexxMail has been updated with built-in POP3 and SMTP services, so users
are no longer dependent on external programs (e.g. sendmail) to handle
mail transactions (external programs can still be used, though). This
version also includes a simple mailing list feature, although without the
option of sending personalized messages I announced earlier. I'm still
working on that feature, and I hope to release an update so
For those of you who missed my earlier posting, to get an impression of
what RexxMail does, visit: http://www.degeus.com/rexx/rexxmail_english.html

The never released/or well hidden Quicktime for OS/2 from Apple...
Once up a time Apple joined forces with IBM to make Quicktime for OS/2...
The project got scrapped... On http://www.leo.org there is a kind of beta of
Apple...
It has dirty player....
But I found a version on the internet which looks way better... I tested
it, it works great. It DOES not play the latest greatest versions of
Quicktime but I could play quite a lot of quicktime files.
Goto http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/, its in incoming...
(file name quicktime.zip)
If its no longer there, look here
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/video/players/
Oooh yes, this product should not be confused with Quickmotion's Quicktime
version!
Enjoy...

Warpstock 2001 Call for Presentations
This year, as with the past four years, hundreds of OS/2 users from around
the world will gather in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to talk about their
favorite operating system. And every year, these hundreds of hungry minds
cry out for more presentations.
The Warpstock 2001 Event Team and the Board of Directors of Warpstock,
Inc. hereby formally puts out a call to adept OS/2 users, far and wide, to
submit their proposals for presentations to be given at Warpstock 2001. If
you have a specific knowledge in some of the below categories and you wish
to share that in support of the OS/2 community, now is the time to step
forward!
Presentations on any OS/2-related topic are more than welcome, regardless
of the technical level. Topic categories include, but are not limited to,
programming (Java, PM, device drivers, ...), software demonstrations
(how-to's, tips and tricks), internet, networking, e-business and anything
else of interest to OS/2 users. And remember, this year's conference is
three days long, so be prepared to give your presentation more than once,
if it's very popular.
Interested individuals should email the Toronto Event Team at
kw2@sentex.net. To ensure that the Warpstock staff have enough time to
prepare, interested speakers should submit a title and abstract by
September 1, 2001. Papers, if applicable, should be submitted by September
15, 2001.
For more information, visit
http://www.warpstock.org/2001/presentations.html. There, you will find
example presentations from previous years, templates in various formats
for use in overheads, and a list of suggested deadlines.
