This month's report is dedicated to only one piece of news. It finally happened! Opera Software have released version 5.12 of their Opera browser for OS/2. According to posts to the support news group, the next version for OS/2 will be based on the 7.0 code base, skipping version 6 which is the current version for Windows. The size of the Opera installer is about 5 MiB, get it from the Opera for OS/2 page. Opera is supported by advertisements but you can also register it for $39(US) and get rid of the advertisement banner. Be sure to check the FAQ and the page with known problems. People with crystal based sound cards are reporting that their desktop freezes when visiting sites using flash, so be wary of the combination. The browser is so far working very well on my eComStation based computer. Please do not hesitate to send me any other news from around Scandinavia. |
