XF86_FBDEV vs XGGI

Um, XF86_FBDEV opens /dev/fb? itself, and plays.  

Is it possible to run multiple XF86_FBDEV's?  On different vt's as it
were?

Is work still continuing on XGGI?  

It just seems to me that XGGI is more interesting than XF86_FBDEV....
