Mouse pointers

Hi,

Is there any way to detect whether we're in X or Xlib, and, if there is, to
handle X events manually? To be more precise, I'd like to use a customized
mouse pointer. Providing it on the GGI visual isn't a problem, but making use
of accellerated mouse pointers whenever available would be better.
