Simple...
You don't need to run GGI on X... X takes much memory, many background
processes, etc. Why would you want that if you want to play a game ? If
I'm right, there is no way a GGI game can take over the machine in the way
DirectX does it (I mean, swapping all other tasks out and hacking the
scheduler), so not starting X differs a lot in processor load and
memory usage.
