XGGI and DirectBuffer

To anyone who might know -

  What does XGGI use DirectBuffer for? Would it be reasonable to try and make
it run, say, under the palemu target? I've tried, and I bet you could guess
the result.

  I would assume DirectBuffer is useful for the cursor. Anything else?
