VESA VBE driver support (Could someone elaborate?)

The following goal is mentioned in the README:

        * implementation of VESA VBE driver support, that will allow you
to use drivers shipped with the graphics cards for Linux!
Imagine you get drivers delivered with the card!

Question #1) Is this nearing completeion?

Question #2) Windows drivers? Or exactly what might this mean?

It should be noted I love the whole idea of a kernel graphics interface,
and I like that you guys keep as little as possible in kernel-land!
