Download the latest CVS -- I've fixed many things (also broke some
drivers :( with the mmio thing -- but your ET6000 seems to do the right
thing though).

Vgacon should be able to restore the font (assuming "rmmod kgicon"
restores the text mode properly, which it _still_ doesn't seem to do, 
I don't know why).

Also stm's "savetextmode" beforehand and "textmode" afterwards should
work (haven't tried).

Nope, vgafb is going away -- but vgacon *and* framebuffer support can
coexist.
