That's a good thought, but the insmod SHOULD complain with undefined
symbols if that module is not loaded.  At least it does on my systems.  

That's a good suggestions though.  I find that I need to have all of the
fbcon modules installed,

fbcon-cfb2, 4, 8, 16 , 24, 32, mfb, vga
