How is switching consoles supposed to work under fb-con.c?

Is it normal that under XF68_DEV the screen is not updated if you switch
from
an X window to a console window of the same size (1024x768 in 8 bits)?
If you
change to a console of a different size (like 640x480x8) it updates the
screen.
