Yes. LibGGI is just a library. It doesn't contain graphics drivers itself.

It needs a working graphics subsystem underneath. 
You need either a working SVGAlib, or a working fbcon driver, or a 
working kgicon driver.

Sounds like SVGAlib problem ...

You might want to try to install a 2.2.x kernel, download the kgicon stuff,
build a VGA-only driver and try that.

If that works, it might be a good idea to start working on a "true" Trident
driver for KGI ... :-/
