The only 'consumer level' chipset I know that was designed for OpenGL
is the Permedia series. The others (RivaTNT, 3Dfx, ...) are designed to 
meet the DirectX stuff and gaming requirements. (Yes, they support it less or
more, but OpenGL was not the primary issue.)
