Guy Rose was an American Impressionist and a founder of the California Art Club. The Art Club, whose members were known for their plein-air paintings, was established in 1909 and finally disbanded in 1995.
It has only been recently that Rose and other members of the Art Club (Including Franz Bischoff, Edgar Payne, Elmer Wachtel, Mabel Alvarez, Maurice Braun, Donna Norine Schuster, and Hanson Puthuff among others) have been getting a reappraisal and the credit they deserve.
From 1890-1904 Rose spent time in Giverny along with Frederick Frieseke, Richard Miller, and Edmund Greacen. Calling themselves the "Giverny Group" they exhibited together in New York in 1910.
